Tekcell batteries are a popular choice in industrial automation, where battery replacement is difficult and costly

Tekcell lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) batteries have a documented service life of more than ten years and a low yearly self-discharge of 1%.
Their popularity is explained by their high energy density, long service life and excellent performance under harsh operating conditions

Tekcell Lithium Thionyl Chloride (Li-SOCl2) batterierUnder normal conditions, primary lithium cells have a cell voltage of 1.5 to 3 volts. The cell voltage in a lithium thionyl chloride battery is slightly higher, at 3.6 volts. This voltage level is maintained throughout its service life, which is a fantastic achievement due to the unique chemical composition of the batteries. This enables them to supply stable current and voltage over a sustained period.

Høj energitæthed
Lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) batteries have one of the highest energy densities of any type of non-rechargeable battery. They can reach 710 Wh/kg. This means they can store a lot of energy relative to their size and weight. It makes them ideal for applications where a sustained supply of electricity is crucial, such as in district-heating monitoring units, security systems, medical devices and emergency equipment. The electrochemical system provides the highest energy density of any available primary battery: up to 710 Wh/kg and 1,280 Wh/dm3.

Comprehensive durability
These rugged batteries can perform at even the most extreme temperatures. They can withstand extremely low and high temperatures – down to -55°C and up to 85°C – enabling a wide and diversified range of use.

The Tekcell batteriers have a documented service life of more than ten years and, with a low self-discharge of 1% a year, they are ideal for applications in industrial automation systems or deep-sea equipment where battery replacement is both difficult and costly.

Low self-discharge
Thanks to their low self-discharge, the batteries can retain their charge for a long time, even when not in use. This is useful in situations where batteries must be stored for a long time before being used, such as in emergency power systems or back-up power supplies. Most emergency locator transmitters on aircraft now use lithium thionyl chloride batteries because they are lightweight and ideal at low temperatures.

Ultimate reliability
All Tekcell primary lithium batteries are UL approved and meet UN transportation testing requirements. They come in different shapes and sizes and are available with soldering lugs, PCB-type terminal pins, axial pins, cord and plug as required. No matter which model you choose, all battery qualities – such as operating voltage and service life – are the same.
