Flexible batteries can be bent and twisted thousands of times

Innovative and highly flexible lithium batteries can withstand repeated bends with a radius of 25 mm or twisted with a maximum angle of 25°C without loss of function.

The batteries are extremely thin with a height of only 0.55 mm, making them ideal for use in smartcards and portable devices and clothing in direct contact with the human body

The durable construction allows the use of the innovative rechargeable batteries in various applications: Batteries in card units must e.g., be able to withstand bends without becoming defective. Flexibility is also an advantage in portable devices like SmartWatch as it allows them to be adjusted to the individual user. Other comparable lithium-ion batteries cannot meet these requirements. Repeated bending of the batteries not only reduces the charging capacity and battery life, but also has a serious impact on their safety. The new flexible rechargeable battery from Panasonic is of excellent quality and is designed for safe and long-lasting operation.

In stress tests, it retains 99% of its original capacity, even after thousands of bends and twists

The battery has a stacked electrode construction. A newly designed inner structure and an innovatively laminated outer layer ensure that the battery does not leak or overheat during repeated bends and twists. This robust construction makes the battery ideal for use in smartwatches and clothing in direct contact with the body.

The flexible batteries have a charging capacity between 17.5 mAh and 60 mAh with a weight of only 0.7 to 1.9 grams.
